Just noticed tonight that I finally got this mysterious weed to produce a tiny proper flower, not just the weird floating balls.

And the plague begins. Luckily, I have the pot in a small aquarium so chances to escape should be very small.

Are utricularias really this bad?
I have a few large leafed ones and 1 tiny sandersonii.
I can’t imagine how they could’ infest’ everything. Can’t you just pluck them constantly every time they show up uninvited ?

I actually don't find they hurt the plants. But they do infest everything. I like them all over the place.

Utricularia Subulata is annoying sometimes, one of my pots of U. Sandersonii has got taken over by Subulata

I'm pretty sure mine came in on the roots of a Brocchinia reducta.

Hey, I just found subulata in my u. sandersonii! No balls yet, just flower. Neat. Debating what to do with it now.

Edit: I've decided to follow Steve Bradford's example and place the pot in a tall open jar. Does anyone know how high the flower stalks grow?

2" or so but the flowers rarely open.

The flower stalks on mine are up to 6 inches tall.

Mine are in between the previous posted heights...about 4 inches. Quite a few of them and none have opened.

I've got some subulata in my longifolia pot. It flowered a few times but now it only makes those balls. Its pretty inconspicuous so I don't really mind having it around.
