Utricularia Identification Help

I recently noticed that a dome of mine has been colonized by a different plant. Is this a Utric? There's a flower stock that appeared out of the moss, but I'm guessing there's more of this at the base, but I didn't want to go poking about too much.

Yup that would be a Utricularia! Likely the weedy U. subulata which produces two types of flowers, yellows ones that are nice to look at and these which just spread seed.

Mine start off as a small ball atop a stalk and only displays yellow when it blooms. My stalks also only have 1 flower at a time.

You don't need seed, any green bit is fine, even a nearby soil sample with no obvious green bits will infest new medium.
 
Very true. I usually just pinch off some of the live sphag (or pull up some leaves/roots) for giving away. I did collect some seeds recently though - they're tiny like drosera seeds.
 
sorry im a year late but do you still have the weedy utrics?

I would be glad to get some weedy utrics.:p

looks like subulata to me too, they do cleistogamous flowering, which they produce seed pods without actually flowering.
 
I have an utric that seems to grow like crazy.... And I am consistently pulling it out!

I'd suggest not spreading it into every pot until you know you like it.. it is literally in every grow tray of mine, and it's stealing light from the plants I would actually like to grow. Just a little warning.. hehe
 
I know that they can be weedy but my house needs some cheery flowers! If you have some utrics that you don't want. I would love them!
