I found a lot of the aquatic Utricularia will flower in panic to their changing environment. Utricularia gibba will be growing now near the edge of ponds and flooded ditches this time of year. As summer comes the water warms and the level drops, mats exposed gibba on the muddy shore will flower before they dry out.
I keep mine floating at the top of a 24 inch tall aquarium they almost never flower there unless they are draped over another plant breaking the surface. I believe you could encourage them to flower by growing them as Lloyd does, a wet mat that’s not floating.
This is awesome! I've never actually seen anyone growing aquatics like this, only in separate pots. Cool! Thanks for sharing! This is how I grow my aquatic Utricularia. No Drosera with them.
Utricularia graminifolia
Utricularia minor
Utricularia gibba
Utricularia macrorhiza
and hopefully soon Aldrovanda vesiculosa
