Utricularia Gibba

I finally have success growing U. gibba!
Currently keeping them with frogbits in a small tank.

I just pulled a big golf ball size clump out of my little bog tank this morning... it grows so fast!

Does anyone have any tips for getting it to flower?
 
In my experience, gibba loves growing in a thick mat at the bottom of terrariums in the water that drains through other pots. It likes it when the water is just below the surface and flowers continuously.
 
I found a lot of the aquatic Utricularia will flower in panic to their changing environment. Utricularia gibba will be growing now near the edge of ponds and flooded ditches this time of year. As summer comes the water warms and the level drops, mats of exposed gibba on the muddy shore will flower before they dry out.

I keep mine floating at the top of a 24 inch tall aquarium they almost never flower there unless they are draped over another plant breaking the surface. I believe you could encourage them to flower by growing them as Lloyd does, a wet mat that’s not floating.

Very interesting! I’ve had this work too! Funny enough if i drop water levels to almost nothing in my drain water they flower!
