I used to think Victoria Day was a good day for planting but for delicate stuff like tomatoes, it's more like June 1'st. in Toronto.

The cherry tomatoes are ripening on the vine and these medium sized tomatoes are ready to eat. Lots more on the plants, still green.

My winter microdwarf tomatoesI was too busy to get them started in late August-early Sept so there won’t be homegrown tomatoes for Christmas this year but there should be some right before it’s time to start my outdoor summer ones!

@DaniL ... these seeds you sent me for this microdwarf — they are the bomb! I put two plants in the hydroponics bin, and the plants quickly took over. Not a problem because they produced a lot of delicious fruit. About a week ago, I moved them to a raised bed and they have adapted. New growth this morning. Some dry leaves, but they have become a bit of a bonsai project

@DaniL and @Joanie .. are those micro tomatoes Red Robin? I have 3 of these compact 10" -12" plants in the veggie garden and can't believe the yield. So far I've harvested about a dozen tomatoes from each plant and lots more coming, so dense that the wee plants have to be propped up . Impressive! I plan to grow some over winter, such a treat!

Tons of the little striped guys which are quite nice. The plants with the big darkish ones were very slow so only a few fruit.
Favourite way of eating fresh tomatoes, good bread, mayonnaise, salt, pepper. This small, striped variety is so prolific, I'm actually almost getting surfeited of tomato eating.
