hi clifflover, the vertical growing was a experiment after seeing coal mine beach site, where the plants grew on a some times almost vertical slope ,looked fascinating to me, as nearly all other sites were flattish or undulating ground close to a water source, whether it be under ground water , swamp or streams , it took me several attempt's to get to what you see i did , ,it was more about keeping the soil in place ,more than any thing, soil composition was important ,had to be a firmer mix , most grew well ,some times slow ,nothing unusual with cephs , was really no different from in normal up right pots once they got going , i didn't need water with running through them, just normal over head watering was used , did not over water, just keep them moist and fed ,seemed happy enough when established, even flowered . hope that answered your question

yes it was indeed very pleasing to see working and growing well , very satisfying , to see the site in person is truly amazing , have been there many many times , its now not in its former glory from 2008 -10 before the big storm land slides when a huge amount of the grow area fell into the sea , was the first person to see this on a trip at the time, the day after that storm event , and videoed it at the time , was very disappointed , that so many plants just got washed away and approximately 1/2 the original grow site area was gone ,very sad to see in person , seeing so may plants and ceph sites, this site, Coal mine beach is still the most exciting site to see still, because of its unique-ness of its position and how the plants grow in those conditions, than all other ceph sites .Hi John,
Thank you so much for you detailed reply. My unique Ceph is from the coal mine beach, it would be funny to saw them in the same setup as it is in the wild. I did some division 3 weeks ago, I'll experiment it, even if there is no growing difference, It can be cool in a setup
