The Utricularia humboldtii x alpina I have is currently flowering. I figured folks here might be interested in knowing the flower differences grew under different lighting conditions.
The two photos above shows the flowers of U. humboldtii x alpina under high-light (left, with reddish brown leaves) and low-light (right, with mostly green leaves) conditions. The low-light plants are propagated from divisions of the high-light plants. They are grown under the same temperature in the same room.
The low-light plants in the above photo are grown under grow light bulbs of 3000 lumens at around 50 cm above the plants (~40 µmol/m^2/s).
The high-light plants are grown under grow lights of unspecified brightness at around 20 cm above the plants (specifications for the lights suggest the Photosynthetic Photon Flux Density at this distance is around 150-200 µmol/m^2/s). The flowers might look good but the leaves certainly feels less "healthy looking".
Does anyone here grow epiphytic Utricularia with success? What lighting conditions do you use? Anyone got similar results with other species or hybrids of other epiphytic Utricularia? Curious to know...
