Thrip treatment for Nepenthes

So yesterday I found a small (potentially baby) thrip on my new nepenthes - I've had it for a week :( . So far I've treated it with a 0.2% pyrethrin spray and used a diluted isopropyl alcohol/castile soap spray. Would it be beneficial (/not totally kill the plant) to just submerge it in a diluted isopropyl alcohol bath for a day or so? (Or enough time to kill any leftovers?) I know thrip lifecycle is pretty long so I'll need to continue treatment for a while.
Thanks - never dealt with thrips before so I'm freaking out!

You can at first spray water on the plant to rinse it and get rid of the insect during day time. Then treat it with your pyrethrin spray only at night time. After a week, make a solution of 700ml of distilled water with 2 drops of shampoo or liquid dish soap and one tea spoon of neem oil. Shake well and spray at night time. Repeat once a week for 3 weeks. Always use fresh solution each time as neem oil breakdowns in a few hours in daylight. Don’t put the solution direct into the soil, but it’s ok if some of the solution drips on it. At the end of each treatment, rinse the soil with distilled water.

I've had great success killing pests with a commercial insecticidal soap+pyrethrin mix (Safer's End All).
It doesn't seem to harm the plants, there's no phytotoxicity like what I normally see when using something like neem oil. It works well enough that I've made a 10 minute soak in End All followed by a soil flush with clean water a part of my routine when receiving new plants.

I wouldn't risk this. I'd go for regular applications of a contact insecticide until they're gone.

Ok great, safers end all is one of the solutions I used so I'm glad to hear a success story with it!

Good stuff. I felt that it was enough of an improvement over a homemade soap/oil emulsion that I bought a 1 gallon jug of the concentrate and dilute it to whatever volume/concentration I need. Thrips are pretty easy to treat if you catch them early. Just make sure to treat all the plants in the area on a regular schedule until you're sure they're gone. They'll come back if you leave a reservoir of them hiding somewhere.

On my plants I use pyrethrin spray almost all the times when I need to treat or prevent attacks from insects as it breakdown pretty quickly during day time and it’s safe for the plants.

For insects that are more difficult to kill, I make the neem oil solution for night time treatment….never use it on plants that have dew like Drosera species, I always use the pyrethrin instead. For delicate plants I put them in a miniature greenhouse and gas them with doctor doom, keep them in the dark for 24H with the gas trap inside….all insects that breathe air dies….no chance for them even the difficult ones :p

I never had problem with neem oil…often people use it for their hairs, nails etc

Good idea with the miniature greenhouse! I'll try that as well. Thanks!

I cannot say enough good things about NemaKnights nematodes by the environmentalfactor.com (available from Amazon too) AND @WillyCKH 's magic systemic insecticide!

Outside (sarrs and sundews and VFTs) I had aphids, a huge fungus gnat issue, and I found a thrip. I followed @Lloyd Gordon 's advice of manual removal and spraying/brushing them off leaves plus I used the nematodes to attack eggs and larvae (and anything else soil-dwelling). Haven't seen an aphid or thrip in weeks, and the fungus gnats are few and far between.

Inside, I suspected thrips, or some other pest, so I used a combo of the nematodes and Willy's spray. My neps look soooo much better. One that hasn't produced a pitcher in almost a year even looks like it has one starting.

Awesome, thanks! I haven't been able to find any beneficial insects for this cheap! I don't know where to find the systemic, so I've been treating with Safers end all. Hopefully that and the nematodes will do the trick!

Saw some weird white stuff on my bicalcurata pitcher lips yesterday. Wiped off with isopropanol and applied @WillyCKH systemic. No actual bugs seen. Latest pitcher was stunted so hoping for improvement.

Does anyone tell their significant other that they're releasing worms or bugs in the residence?

Omg I’m so scared I got thrip infestation saw little white things moving don’t want to lose my plants
Just applied Willis’s spray to them
I thought it was weird my ventra
Half of 500ml all under leaves as much as I could and all over the plants
How many days do I spray the plants?

Do you dilute as Safe's End All (concentrate) instructions for soaking solution ? The same product burned all my hot pepper plants...

I dilute it to the recommended strength (50 mL concentrate in ~1 L water) and soak the plants with it for maybe 10 minutes. Then I leave the plants out for a bit to dry slightly before rinsing everything off with water.

For hot peppers I just spray the solution directly onto the plants and leave it.

Tonight I’m doing a gas treatment with Doktor Doom Go Green total release fogger…here are my two tents where I can place up to 20 trays of plants…

Nepenthes are being treated for prevention after I found out thrips attack. Last treatment then will wait another week to re-treat in case they laid eggs.

It’s so effective it kills all the insects and even the plants :p:p hahaha just kidding for the plants :p

If you look at the quantity of pyrethrin…0.4% the other ingredient is there only to improve the effect of the pyrethrin…double trouble for insects!
