Pullings?

Carnivore
Is it normal to use a leaf pulling method over stem cutting? I also read elsewhere it can be done to other nepenthes as well. Photo I found on fb. I'm not sure the success rate is higher than stem cuttings.

Leaf pulling, pitchers pulling work for propagating Cephalotus. The chance is still very high if done correctly, but you will have a much smaller and slower plant comparing to division or stem cutting.

look like you have some results there ,congrats , not a huge difference in leaf and stem, root cuttings to propagate cephs, all though the leaf and pitcher pulling should be young and mature but newest growth possible to get best results, and the stem must be taken with the cup stem attachment still in place for best results , root and stem only need to be semi covered with media to achieve results , best taken in pre-spring and sown , to get spring growth cycle for best possible normal grow habits/conditions

Krizz did you mean other Nepenthes? Thats what you wrote. First thing I hear that leafpulling works there. Stem cutting does what I read.

yep right partisangardener , Krizz , you do stem cutting for nepenthes , not pulling's, all though you can pull off at times stem Basel shoots, but its harder to get them to take, stem cutting is the better for the nep's, if you like any more information on this let me know ,sure i have done a post on nep stem cutting's some where here !

Its pullings for C.follicularis and yes i have done some stem cuttings and no this isnt from a basel shoot. I was just wondering if pullings can be applied to other species besides C.follicularis.

yes indeed , as partisangardener said , and a few others too some hellis can , and actually tuber drosera too , as if you premature pull out the stem from the mature but growing time with out the tuber and re-plant it in the same early growing time , many / most will re grow a tuber and keep the upper growth growing, interesting huh :) you must replant it asap though , before it looses its growth presentation . Note :- on that is keeping the tuber cup attachment or the white tuber attachment stem in tact , for better new growth same as the ceph too you will get much quicker and higher % results . some long leaf sundews say like D.binata if you lay a one or two stem /stems and dew traps in shallow clean water they will produce multi/ lots plants from that submerged stem in a very short time , pings are a easy one to do pullings from as well there are many easy ways to go about doing pings pulling s that do not take much effort for good results
