Mixing carnivourous plant soil

Hello. I'm just wondering, any one use Golfgreen Canadian sphagnum peat moss?

I’m not familiar with that brand. If you post a legible picture of the packaging front and back or a link to the specific product you bought here I’m sure we could determine if it’s suitable or not.

Oh, if it was enriched with additives, it should say so?

Yes usually somewhere it will list all the contents and especially any added chemicals. In your case on the back it says:

Ingredient
Sphagnum peat moss

I think I got the crown situated, and watered it good.

How do folks here feel about orchid bark? I've recently been really liking it as, like, a slightly more absorbant version of perlite. I've seen people complain that it decomposes, but so far it seems to at least outlast LFS.

I use pumice in place of perlite. I rinse it thoroughly to get rid of fines. It doesn't give that landfill styrofoam pond edge look that perlite does when it floats around. Pumice also ages to match the peat colour when it soaks up some tannins. I have used pumice with most carnivorous plants for a few years with no problems.

Good pumice is hard to find on the prairies.
I had to order a bag from Home Depot to get some decent stuff.

Ouch! I get these 28.3 litre bags for $20 each. I wonder if you could source the brand nearby. Justin and I order a pallet of coarse silica every once in a while. It's hard to find good stuff here. It's worth it if shared.

Sand is easy to get here.
I can get 50lb bags of #12 all day long.
It's been awhile since I got any, but I think it was a decent price. But no one carries pumice in big bags. Best I can find is 3L bag for $9 at a local garden shop.

Diatomaceous earth (Floor dry or some types of kitty litter) 33%, Corse river sand 33%, Perlite 33%

75% fine pumice with 25% silica sand

50% Turface 50% perlite.
