Thank Lloyd. I have read and saved this article, however I could'nt find any infos about propagation by leaf pulling... It did mentioned about sowing seed...Pinguicula planifolia article.
Yes it works I have a few hundreds Pinguicula planifolia in vitro and funny that you asked because this morning I discovered many leafs that fell in the media last time while planting Ping in new vessel and they produced babies aswell.Hi all,
Do the leaf pulling propagation work for the pinguicula planifolia ?
If you are into shipping I would like to purchase a couple!Yes it works I have a few hundreds Pinguicula planifolia in vitro and funny that you asked because this morning I discovered many leafs that fell in the media last time while planting Ping in new vessel and they produced babies aswell.
Yes sure, right I’m in a big rush because our bussiness exploded remind me in 3 weeks and I should be ready to ship some. Never seen that many request for nurseries since I started the company! If you are into shipping I would like to purchase a couple!
I have seen it with Pinguicula grandiflora in vitro. The plants were active when I started the in vitro and last week I repotted the Ping in new media for in vitro and they were many hibernacula. I noticed the roots system is different with hardy Ping in vitro, the roots are stronger, darker and go deeperCan confirm it also works with temperate pings like P. macroceras. I have used the leaves from hibernacula when they are dormant in the same way as one would use succulent phase leaves from the Latin American pings. I have had success even without rooting hormone. I just made sure to peel it off in a way that the leaves retained some meristematic tissue.
Much much thank you... Read too fast, impatient !!!!Quote from above article:
"I also discovered that like most Mexican Pinguicula, our native P . planifolia were capable of producing plantlets or pups from leaves that were very carefully removed from the mother plant and dipped in a rooting hormone (at the time I was using Rootone®)."
