Then one familiar with Halifaxcarnivores?

A post just popped up on my feed that was my picture and I was really confused about it. Then I realized this individual stole my photo!

Guess I'll have to take the time to put my watermark on all my stuff!

He's also got the low laying Purpurea labeled as "Trumpet Pitchers" They aren't known as in the Trumpet family are they?

He removed the post but blamed Google for not filtering the picture

I did a reverse image search and the only place it shows up is this forum, so the source of the photo is quite obvious.

I just told him in the future he should promote his own plants and use pictures of them. If you're going to be selling plants you should be truthful about what people are getting.

I'm pretty sure I've seen that thumb in the nep picture.

So is he a scammer or just bad at photography?
I'm sure he's a legitimate seller, but using other people photos, or even free use stock photos from online is misleading.

If you want to post a picture of a mature plant, that's ok to do, but follow it up with pictures of the actual plants that you're selling so people aren't disappointed when they get it.

He just made a mistake by choosing your picture without writing the source. He isn’t a scammer and he removed the post when you asked him about the issue.
Correct, he did remove the post.
I've let other people use my photos before, but they asked beforehand, and I knew what the end purpose was.

Agree 100% with @Muckydoo.
Disagree 100% with @Les serres de Paolo Inc. He didn't make a mistake ! He used other nice plant pictures with purpose: misleading potential buyers. Agree 100% with @Lloyd Gordon : do not trust this seller.

I think the matter of him being a trustworthy seller or not can only be determined by the people who have bought plants from him.

I never bought a plant from him so I can't really say either way in that matter, and I have not come across any post or reviews on Facebook to make a case for either.

This was simply a case of someone using one of my photos to try to promote their own product of which the photo would be a complete misrepresentation of the actual product provided.

If he would have asked to use one of my photos I probably would have declined based on the fact that I have no prior experience with this individual as far as buying and selling.

I have provided photos to other individuals who asked beforehand.
But I have had experience with these individuals in the past with buying and selling plants from them, and I was always very happy with the plants provided and the service provided so I had no issue with them using one of my photos.
And these photos weren't used as a misrepresentation of the items that the individual would receive they would simply be used to show the potential of what the plant can become, and they would always send a photo of the exact plant that the person was buying beforehand so they're never disappointed when they received the plant.

This post was never meant to slander Halifaxcarnivores, I was simply curious if they had used anybody else's picture from the forum on his Instagram.

If anybody has had dealings with them and they were positive or not positive then you can absolutely post about your experience. Obviously the best place to do it would be here;

Good news! It can only be slander if it's false.

I'm glad he took it down when requested, but his blaming google for not catching it isn't exactly reassuring -- that's not how I'd expect someone to react if they were honestly just clueless about societal expectations or whatever. That means he did this intentionally, he was just hoping google would help him avoid getting caught.

I have absolutely nothing nice to say about people who take others' intellectual property without permission and use it to try to sell their own stuff/get ahead in some way. The things I *might* be inclined to say about such actions and the people who commit them would probably get me banned from this forum. So I'll leave it at this: Nevermind being a trustworthy seller, he's not behaving like a trustworthy human. I don't care whether or not his plants are glorious and worth the price, I would not ever consider buying from him.

this is purely my opinion. I think its pretty sketch. Like what if you went to a restaurant and they used another restaurants photos for their food?

I don't like it. I have no experience with this particular seller so I can't comment on their wares or services.

I will say though that there are many other sellers that are very reputable online stores and even members of these forums. Why even take the risk?

I would say that on the forum, you can get the great majority of available CP's reliably and very reasonably. Even more varieties with combined orders. For the rest, there's a number of established vendors. Seeds are a bit different, but even then you want to order from someone with a good history. Why bother with the rest?
