DIY Stir plate

I stole this idea from my buddy who made one to aerate the yeast starter for his home brew. It's just a CPU fan with magnets glued to it, a magnetic stir rod and a $4 PWM unit to control the speed. It's good for keeping the agar suspended in TC media.

As a precaution. I bought some P669 orchid flask medium with agar premixed that has activated charcoal in it and it was hard to tell if everything was dissolved. This way if I keep it moving hopefully everything is equally distributed and anything not dissolved will do so in the pressure cooker.

I use a similar mix. I just mix it thoroughly with a glass stirring rod before pouring. Convection during pressure cooking does the rest, never any problems.

I probably won't need it again until it's time to replate the orchids, assuming all goes well with the germination.
