Not a top dressing. For my non-cacti succulents, my mix is 4:4:4:1 top soilerlite:sand:vermiculite. I leave the plants outside all summer and after some heavy rain I get the sand making it’s way to the top. The plants don’t mind and grow just as well as those I keep in the house for most of the year.

I thought my mix was high in mineral. What do you use for Cacti.

1:1:1 Top soilerlite:sand. I tried a top dressing of River pebbles but found it stopped the cacti soil from drying out after each rainfall.

Huge wind bent my stem over. Sigh. Have taken cuttings and am starting over. I love succulents for being able to go back to square one when things go wrong.
