CONNORS CEPHS

Do you grow sundews? I’m going to try your mixture of silica sand, peat moss perlite and flaval mix
No I do not the only plants in my collection is 1 utricularia graminifolia lots of Helis and 3 cepha. I am sure a small ammount of peat will help some sundews. I used to have huge collection of pings but I let them go about 10 years ago. ahh and about 100 peyotes cactuses lol

I harvest the live LFS as it overgrows.
Lloyd I will see if I can find the pictures I took in a very small lake on the gulf islands this past summer where the Sphagnum I saw by a group of drosera rotundifolia was absolutely stunning! had my evil side telling me to take some but I ended up leaving it for others to find and see.

will try to upload some pictures very soon

Omg lol I know that feeling haha.

One more question guys? Would small lava rocks mix be a good alternative if I can’t get hold of purmice or perlite.
Will it aerate the soil?

I’m having success with a mix high in gravel, maybe 30% peat by volume. They get watered every couple of days until water runs through the pot and they sit in a shallow saucer.

fantastic hal. I’m going for similar mix
Which will be peatmoss, lava rock soil and Silca sand. For my Cephs & sundews.

Is it normal for baby Cephs pitchers to die off during growth? To regain new growth? Seems like this is what he is doing.

It looks normal to me but could also be slowly dyeing down. If you noticed the bottom left also looks like it may turn. Hope not. MIMI once again in my opinion that looks like it is soaking wet. forget about how nice that sphagnum looks and focus on your little guy.
Maybe it is just me that keep my ceph drier., Maybe the forum gurus on Ceph may want to shoot another opinion?
@VarunA what do you think? to wet or not?

Cheers

Xavier

Cheers pingking! He’s been growing like just for months. I’ve been waiting for my media to arrive! I finally got my silca sand , lava rock and mixed with peat. And clay balls for bottom of pot.
I will post tmrw.

so you if I have you right? I need to take all media away from the roots of the Ceph?
then spray the roots?
Then mix up my mix of silca sand, lava Rock and peat. Wet it and then plant the Ceph?

I was worried about removing the old soil Around my Ceph? I will be very upset if I kill it doing that.

Mimi Your ceph is great the way it is for now just decrease watering and increase lighting a bit more. once it matures or after two years then do the change on media. It is too small to transplant.

only trouble is I can’t add more light! I’ve already got two LEDs in there and a spectrum T5H0. There’s no way for soil to dry up as quick.

this is what I’m going to do pingking
Since it’s a baby
I’m not going to disturb the roots. I’m just going to leave access soil around the Ceph & Just repot it in smaller pot like a bottle more with a dryer mix of silca sand and peat.

Not really, my other Ceph is a mini, hardly growing. My Ceph's grow for a while, then die down, then I change the medium and they grow again. Not the greatest. I once saw Hal's ping. It was ridiculous, looked like baby mocassins.

do you keep yours In terria without dormancy Lloyd?

i carefully reported the Ceph this after!
here’s the pic process!
I added hydro balls at the bottom
And mixture of peat, lava rock, silca sand and then silca sand as top dressing around the Ceph!
