Anyone growing caudex plants?

I repotted some of my Pachypodium into smaller pots. It's apparently supposed to stimulate larger caudex growth. What I forgot to do was cut the roots back but I did trim the longest ones and just stuffed everything into the pots:

I also brought my Fockea edulis up from downstairs since it's getting cold in the basement. This guy suffered some rot last summer so the other side of the caudex actually has a large gaping hole. It's calloused over and hasn't progressed so it should be okay. I just have to take care going forwards when watering not to get the inside of the cavity wet:

My Dioscorea elephantipes are preparing for the hot summer and it's started to dry out. It's lost the first few feet of leaves and stem. But the caudex is looking great!
I read you're supposed to shield the caudex from the sun, so I use 1/2 a syrofoam cup.
It's only in a sunny west window, so it's probably not necessary.

It's reached the point where it's hard to tell if the caudex is expanding.
But they are definitely all unique.
The front two are a little bit more round with shallow grooves and the two in the back are smaller and a lot more nubbly (is that a word?)
One flowered this year, male flowers.
Have to wait to see if any of these are female.

So almost 3 years later, my D. elephantipes has grown a tiny bit compared to when I first posted:

I also have a D. mexicana, here's it 3 years ago:

and here it is today starting to reach the edge of its pot:

And here's my Pachypodium brevicaule 3 years ago and today:

And here's my Sinningia tubiflora 3 years ago and today, also now starting to crawl out of the pot. Also in the pic is my S. leucotricha, same one from my original post. It seems kind of the same but the caudex is slightly higher:

I also splurged a bit and bought a big D. elephantipes, hoping on the chance that I have a male and female pair now:

Here's a few more small seedlings I have:

Adenia glauca

Euphorbia globulicaulis, these stay pretty small:

Pachypodium succulentum, it has a small caudex but I'm keeping it buried to encourage some more growth since this one normally grows an underground one:

Some Pachypodium densiflorum seedlings:

I thought it was weird that my P. brevicaule didn't look like it grew at all over the last 3 years, turns out I had the wrong picture. I must have saved over the old one by accident. Here's the actual baby pic:

I'm growing many different caudex plants! I'm obsessed. I'm sure I'll be posting many pictures of them throughout the forum.

Here's some dioscorea elephantipes that I've been growing from seed. They have germinated around June 2024 and I'm surprised on how much progress they have made. I'm repotting them into larger pots today.
